School context
Lingfield College is a co-educational day school which caters for pupils aged 0 to 18. Here in the Prep School we have 263 children. Set in 37 acres of gardens, woodlands, orchard, sports pitches and playing fields, Lingfield offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for all denominations and is the only school of its kind in the area. The mean InCAS developed ability score for the 47 Yr 1-6 pupils who started in September 2023 was 111. 21 children in the Prep school have been identified as having special educational needs and/or disabilities. At the end of the 2023 24 year we had 1 EAL child, 21 bilingual children and 1 trilingual child. Very few children get free meals.
School goals and ambitions
We are privileged to have beautiful outdoor spaces at Lingfield Prep and would like to utilise these more effectively, whilst also ensuring that the safety of children and staff remains a priority. We would like to promote outdoor learning and ensure that the children have a voice in how, when, and where outdoor learning takes place. Through this process we would like to raise the profile of the outdoor learning that we already do, whilst also encouraging teachers to introduce more opportunities for outdoor learning both within the curriculum and in our extracurricular provision. We would like to encourage the sharing of good practice in outdoor learning.

Impact school context
Lingfield Prep has successfully enhanced outdoor learning by integrating it into the curriculum, engaging pupils in decision-making, and ensuring a safe, well-resourced environment. Positive attitudes have been fostered through awareness campaigns, increasing staff and pupil enthusiasm. Improved resource accessibility and weather-appropriate clothing have removed barriers to participation. Safety measures, including first aid training and site checks, have been strengthened. Pupils now have a voice in outdoor learning, and the creation of a logo and motto has solidified its importance in school culture. Pupil wellbeing has improved, and pupils have benefitted from eating food they grew.
