School context
The Clare School is a Complex Needs School on the outskirts of Norwich. It is a specialist school for pupils with physical and sensory difficulties, with over 90% of pupils having a primary SEN need of physical difficulties, Sensory difficulties (VI/HI/MSI) or PMLD. We cater for pupils between the ages of 3 and 19 and pupils travel from all over Norfolk to attend this specialist setting. We have 115 pupils and 109 staff currently. 45% of our pupils are eligible for FSM at present. Currently 94% of pupils have a life-limiting medical condition; it is not unusual for pupils to die during their time at school with us.
School goals and ambitions
I hope to truly embed a culture of mental health support and wellbeing throughout the whole school. During the last year I worked hard with my colleagues to ensure that pupil wellbeing was highlighted and improved. Now it is the turn of the staff team. They are my most precious resource and they do a very hard and difficult job. The pupils we look after are fragile and vulnerable. Our job can have the highest of highs and then the lowest of lows - all within a day. I see this award journey as a way of ensuring that we are thinking about a range of different areas of staff wellbeing, rather than just focussing on one or two narrow areas.

School context
The Clare School is a Specialist ‘Physical and Sensory’ Complex Needs School in the city of Norwich. It is a mixed, day Foundation School for pupils from 3 to 19 years of age, with physical and / or sensory needs. Many pupils also have complex medical and learning needs. The school offers three pathways pre-formal for children with PMLD, semi-formal and formal classes. We have 121 children on roll and all of our children have Education health care plans so are 100% SENd, we have 13% EAL and 39.6% FSM.
School goals and ambitions
Our School Impact award journey is starting from scratch. We will be using the award to help develop an outdoor learning area and an outdoor learning curriculum, so that all of our children will be able to access the outdoors and use the environment to engage with learning. We hope to develop a curriculum that is accessible for each individual child and will provide opportunities that will promote a love of the outdoors.

Impact school context
The school has started to develop our outdoor learning in the ground of the school. We have had a new sensory garden installed with a accessible flower beds, water feature and reading area. Alongside this we are developing an outdoor 'forest school' area with a fire pit, mud kitchen, bug hotels and willow structures, this is in the process of being developed and has been planned out. The Early years team have set up an outdoor learning space behind there classroom so the have access to outdoor learning each week. We have talked to the teachers in school to see what type of outdoor learning they can access and offer and how it will look differently throughout the school.

School goals and ambitions
I would like The Clare School to prove that just because our pupils are predominantly non-verbal and have profound PMLD, we are good at supporting their mental health and wellbeing in a way that is wholly appropriate to their needs. I want to ensure that alongside their medical, physical and educational needs, we do our best to support their wellbeing needs too. This will be a hard award for us to gain - so many of the intent statements are not appropriate for us and our setting (they are very mainstream, understandably), yet, we will do our absolute best to achieve this in a manner which is right for us and our amazing pupils.
