Webinar: How to optimise pupil wellbeing
Mark Jennett is the author of the Pupil Wellbeing Award. Watch Mark explain the importance of enhancing pupil welfare and introduce the eight benchmarks in the Pupil Wellbeing Award.
Supporting pupils’ physical, emotional and mental health
This award considers the challenges children and young people encounter and looks at how to equip them by:
- giving pupils the building blocks for a happy and successful life
- boosting their resilience
- acknowledging the impact wellbeing has on attainment and behaviour
- helping pupils develop the knowledge and skills to support their own wellbeing and that of others
- promoting a sense of agency in making healthy choices
- normalising asking for help.
Eight ways to improve pupil wellbeing
Find out more about each of the eight benchmarks in the Pupil Wellbeing Award. Within each of the following benchmarks are six intentions – select the three intentions that will benefit your school most:
- Promote positive attitudes to physical and mental health and wellbeing across your school.
- Offer positive strategies and support for promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health.
- Promote emotional health and wellbeing across the curriculum.
- Ensure all pupils understand the relationship between physical health and wellbeing.
- Ensure that all pupils know where and how to access help and support at school.
- Give staff the tools to support the wellbeing and emotional health of all pupils.
- Help parents to understand and support their children’s wellbeing needs.
- Support pupils to lead wellbeing initiatives across your school.
