Morton Academy is an 11-16 school with 879 students currently on roll. Morton academy is based in the west of the City of Carlisle and is very much a community school. Many of our students have parents or even grandparents who attended Morton academy themselves. 15% of our students are on the SEND register, 3% have English as an additional language, 29% of students are pupil premium and 27% qualify for free school meals.

School goals and ambitions

Morton Academy has a well established mental health policy, and excellent pastoral support, however more stability and guidance in supporting wellbeing of students will lead to a well embedded and structured mental health approach. Improvements in communication of support with students and parents, and a more holistic approach to the discussion of mental health within the student and staff body will be established with the development of the gold award.
