School context
Whitehall is a large primary school in Leicester City. There are currently 652 pupils on roll between Nursery and Year 6. From Reception onwards, there are 3 classes per year group. The school has a high EAL (96%) and SEND (16%) population. 6% of pupils are currently receiving Free School Meals.
School goals and ambitions
We would like to develop a culture of openness, where wellbeing is promoted and communicated widely. A wellbeing group will be well established to ensure work to promote is ongoing. Information to support wellbeing will be communicated to parents to strengthen their understanding. Learning opportunities will be monitored and adapted as necessary. Pupils will know how to access support if needed and articulate the relationship between physical and mental health. This will be supported by a group of pupils to lead initiatives across the school

School goals and ambitions
Senior leaders at Whitehall aim to effectively support all members of staff as they navigate the difficult world of teaching. We hope that there will be continuing opportunities to reducing staff workload and ensuring that all requirements of staff are impactful and supportive of the journey. We also aim to develop a positive and productive working environment for all staff members. SLT have also shared hopes that all tasks will be completed based on impact and not 'for the sake of it.' They are keen to reduce admin-based tasks as much as possible

Impact school context
With a greater awareness of wellbeing, staff leaders are more of e.g. scheduling emails and arranging the school calendar. School is able to offer release time to staff to work on curriculum areas and opportunities for peer support are more widespread.
Staff have opportunities to voice their concerns to line managers and concerns are either escalated or staff are signposted. Sometimes, they are simply supported to calm and overcome the feeling they have at the time.
There is a friendly atmosphere across the school but it is noted that are some staff who want to be open about their feelings and those who choose not to, outside of their closest colleagues/line managers.

School goals and ambitions
At Whitehall, we aim to provide opportunities to learn new skills, become more confident and improve pupil resilience to lead healthy and happy lives. Children learn about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up to become active, responsible citizens of our community. We aim to improve self-esteem and emotional wellbeing and encourage forming healthy and meaningful relationships, based on mutual respect. We promote the development of pupils’ character to help them flourish in modern Britain and want children to practice strategies that improve their resilience. Children should feel inspired to try new challenges, be emotionally resilient and have greater aspirations.

Since writing the intent statement, we have arranged for pupil groups to lead activities across the school. These pupils have also represented the school to external visitors. Pupils have worked with the PD, SMSC, PSHE, Eco, Computing and PE Leaders to organise events and promote extra-curriculars. We have implemented whole- school approaches and strategies to help pupils be digitally and emotionally resilient so pupils have the language to express their worries and are able to ask questions. There is a greater awareness in school around the importance of trying new challenges, maintaining healthy relationships and building self-esteem, to promote resilience as part of our school ethos.
