School context
Old Hall (OH) is a Local Authority maintained (Walsall) special school for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 aged children with autism spectrum conditions, severe and/or profound and complex/multiple learning difficulties. There are currently 104 children on roll, soon to be rising to 150. We have mixed age classes to ensure the curriculum suits the ability and need of the child. Every child has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) and an Individual Education Plan (IEP), unique for each. Attendance is stable around 91% which is around 7% above the national average for Special Schools (September 2024 data). An above average number of children admitted are eligible for free school meals and pupil premium.
School goals and ambitions
Our goal is to create a supportive, inclusive environment that prioritises the wellbeing of all pupils at our school, underpinned by our core values of positivity, inclusiveness, opportunity, kindness, and togetherness. We aim to foster a culture where every child feels valued and safe, with tailored support for their emotional, social, and mental health needs. By completing this award, we are committed to embedding these values into our wellbeing practices, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to thrive in a compassionate, unified community. Additionally, we aim to recognise and celebrate the many positive practices already embedded in our school, reinforcing existing successes.

Impact school context
Since the statement of intent was completed, the school has seen significant developments. In December 2024, the school underwent an Ofsted inspection and was graded 'Outstanding' across all five areas. Additionally, a new site called The Nest was opened in February 2025, enhancing specialist provision for our local community. This site accommodates Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils with a primary need of SLD and ASC, reflecting the school's commitment to expanding educational opportunities and meeting the diverse needs of its students. These changes mark a promising phase in the school's growth.

School goals and ambitions
Our goal is to prioritise staff wellbeing, recognising the unique challenges faced by those working with pupils who have severe learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, and medical needs. By completing this award, we aim to create a supportive environment where staff feel valued, respected, and empowered. We are committed to promoting mental health, reducing stress, and offering opportunities for professional growth. Through this, we hope to foster a positive, resilient workforce that can continue to provide the best care and education for our pupils. Additionally, we aim to acknowledge and celebrate the effective practices already in place to support staff in our unique workplace.

Impact school context
Since the statement of intent was completed, the school has made strong progress in supporting staff wellbeing. In December 2024, we were graded 'Outstanding' across all five areas by Ofsted, reflecting both pupil outcomes and staff strength. In February 2025, we opened a second site—The Nest—expanding specialist provision and increasing staff numbers across both locations. This growth has required greater coordination and consistency in our wellbeing support.
