Hinchingbrooke School was previously Huntingdon Grammar School and was opened in 1565. The comprehensive school was opened in 1970 and is based around the site of Hinchingbrooke House, which now serves as our Sixth Form Centre. The school is lucky to have a huge heritage, which is reflected in our grounds and our House system.
We have 239 teachers, 28 Teaching Assistants and 81 other support staff so are a large establishment!

School goals and ambitions
Pupil wellbeing is something that is well established across the pastoral team but we now want to make this a whole-school mission! We are also keen to make more of this work student-led, having just set up our first School Council. Indeed the manifestos of both of our new Head Students was focused on mental health and wanting to increase provision and raise awareness.
A lot of our plans for this year revolve around students taking on leadership positions and acting as peer mentors. We are excited to get student input as part of increasing our work on pupil wellbeing to ensure the initiatives being rolled out are the ones that pupils feel are needed.

Staff wellbeing has been a priority for some time at Hinchingbrooke. We are keen to reinvigorate this work through undertaking the School Impact Award, which will help us to more deeply understand what is working well and where we can make further improvements.
We will be seeking more in-depth feedback from staff than previously and want to have a much bigger focus on mental health and mindfulness than we have had before, raising the profile and removing the stigma of this crucial aspect of wellbeing. There will also be a big focus on upskilling staff and signposting information to ensure that the impact of this work is wide-ranging.
