Ormiston Meridian Academy is situated in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, serving 1050 11-16 year olds. The area is one of the most deprived areas within the country, ranking 13th out of 317 IMD, placing it in the bottom 4% of the country for deprivation. Our Pupil Premium eligibility is almost half of our cohort and rising. The academy 48.8% disadvantaged students and 45% FSM students which is over half the national figure (as of Jan 2023). Whilst the highest eligibility rates in the country are seen in the North East (30.4%) and West Midlands (27.9%), our proportion of FSM students far exceeds these figures. 19% of students are SEND and 22% are EAL.

School goals and ambitions
Staff wellbeing is integral to ensuring the long-term success of the academy, specifically for the staff and the students they serve. We want to ensure that we have placed staff wellbeing at the forefront of decision making at all levels so that staff feel well supported and are more productive and effective in their roles. This leads to better teaching and administrative outcomes, directly benefiting students.
