School context
Woodhey High School, part of the Shaw Education Trust, is a secondary academy in north Bury serving mainly local students from Ramsbottom. The community is predominantly White British (91%) with low social deprivation and 17% Disadvantaged students. The school is highly inclusive, with 4.6% of students holding an EHCP, partly due to the on-site Resourced Provision for Autism.
School goals and ambitions
Woodhey should achieve a pupil resilience award because the school is deeply committed to helping young people develop the confidence, determination, and emotional strength needed to handle challenges in school and beyond. Staff encourage pupils to view setbacks as opportunities for growth, fostering a culture where perseverance, reflection, and progress are celebrated. With strong pastoral support, positive relationships, and enrichment opportunities that push students outside their comfort zones, Woodhey empowers pupils to keep going, believe in themselves, and develop life skills that will support them long after they leave the classroom.
