The Basildon Upper Academy comprises of students in KS4-KS5. The school is located in 5% of the most deprived areas Nationally, within East Basildon we are within the most 6% deprived for income, 13% for employment 10% nationally for health and 1% for crime. Of which the students fall within 40-50% PPG which is the highest percentage within the county for Essex. The school caters for 6th form as well as year 10 and 11 students totaling 607. Of the 607 students, 33% are eligible for FSM , 25% EAL and 13% are SEND students. A wellbeing center has also been developed to support students with wellbeing and an Careers Education to educate those within school outside mainstream lessons.

To endorse and continue to embed a resilient learning environments and cultures within the school highlight the different techniques and strategies that the school uses to promote this resilience. Have a clearer pathway for students to manage emotions and continue to incorporate growth mindset within students everyday learning to nurture healthy mindsets and relationships for students and staff. Provide the tools students need in later learning to become financially and emotionally resilient

Impact school context
Students have had a higher attendance for interventions for topics especially in core areas. There is a positive environment and during lesson observations there has been a significant shift in the approach staff have and the language they use to encourage students to learn. Learning environments seem calmer and more engrossing for students. Engagement and rewards overall have increased for students. We have focused strongly on the Trauma Perceptive Practices throughout CPD and this is heavily embedded into the school ethos. Students are educated on internet safety and monitored through a system at school in which highlights risk areas which can be handled with educational meetings.
