School context
We are a large lower school based in the village of Wootton in Bedford Borough. Our school is spread across two sites with preschool, Reception, Year 1 and 2 on our Harris Way site and Years 3 and 4 at our Bedford Road site. There are 607 pupils on roll with 15.3% having Free School Meals, 11.4% EAL and 16.2% Pupil Premium. 12.7% of our pupils are on the SEN register.
School goals and ambitions
By applying for the school impact award, we hope to embed and promote the ethos and language of resilience in our pupils when they are faced with challenges. We aim to provide pupils with opportunities to take on new challenges and through this encourage a growth mindset. We aim to display growth mindset language/posters around school so that pupils can be reminded of what resilience looks like and can refer to this.
We will run weekly Enrichment sessions whereby pupils will be introduced to new skills and challenges.

Impact school context
Since writing our statement of impact our pupils have developed a better understanding of how our brains learn and the idea that we can train our brains has been ingrained which has enabled our pupils to truly believe in the growth mindset concept. Pupils have been given opportunities to encounter a wide array of experiences through our Enrichment program every Friday. Through this program our pupils have had to demonstrate perseverance, teamwork, learning from mistakes, taking risks and embracing challenges.
