Castle Hill High School is a special school in Stockport, England for students, aged 11 – 18, with significant and complex needs. We currently have 325 students on roll, with approximately 8 who speak EAL, and 15 who are entitled to FSM.
School goals and ambitions
In completing this award, I wish to change perceptions and attitudes towards learning outside the classroom. Whether this is with Forest School in our curriculum, or providing opportunities for core subjects to enhance their curriculum offering by providing more lessons outside. I want to ensure that our pupils benefit from experiences to enjoy, explore and learn in natural environments, and for our staff to see these benefits that these experiences will have in real time.

Impact school context
By using these benchmarks as totems to guide the focus of our subject development for Outdoor Education and Forest School, we have been able to make positive changes which have ensured that Outdoor Learning becomes embedded into our core, and broad, curriculum offering. Through streamlining our focus on these benchmarks, the effectiveness of the strategies we have put in place has enabled our school to adopt outdoor learning into its wider culture among the school, the staff, pupils, and wider stake holders.
