Hill Top School is a secondary provision for pupils with additional needs in Gateshead in the North East. Hill Top School is a special school for pupils aged from 11-18. At Hill Top School we support pupils with autistic spectrum condition (ASC) and associated learning difficulties and pupils with moderate learning difficulties (MLD). We have specific classes for pupils with complex autism, based in our autism center, and we have a post-16 provision. The Hill Top curriculum, is an adapted form of the National Curriculum and whilst some of the curriculum areas do not appear ‘traditional’, the curriculum is split into informal, semi-formal and formal, focusing on life skills
School goals and ambitions
Through the School Impact Award we wat to create a more positive working environment where collogues feel supported and their wellbeing is made a priority. In our School Improvement Plan, staff wellbeing has been made a priority and it is something we aim to work on. We hope that through this award, we will be able to highlight areas that need more developing and put things in place to support our staff. A particular focus is bringing staff together in a positive working environment, due to the geography of the school staff are divided upstairs and downstairs and their is not much integration throughout the day which impacts on wellbeing.
