School goals and ambitions
Part of our Merrywood offer is to ensure that all staff are treated well, their mental health is central to decision making and all staff members feel they are part of the wider Merrywood community.
As we are working with pupils who have experienced extreme trauma, it is essential that we look after the wellbeing of our staff at all times. We must ensure that staff receive as much mental health and wellbeing support as they need in order to support pupils to thrive in life after trauma.
We would like to highlight to others the work we do for our staff members to showcase best practice.

School senior leaders have become aware of what is needed to ensure that although we say we manage staff wellbeing, that this actioned all of the time.
We have since created a senior leadership staff wellbeing charter, on what we are going to do as a promise to our staff.
We have also completed questionnaires for all staff, reduced workload, made documents to ensure communication is well managed and planning so teachers can plan ahead.
We have offered more time out of the classroom so that they can complete the tasks they need without the added pressure of doing it out of school hours.

School goals and ambitions
Merrywood would like to showcase the way in which we care deeply for the wellbeing of our pupils. Our model is based around the mental health of pupils, many of whom have experienced extensive trauma in their lives.
We would like to increase educators on the importance of pupils mental health, along with their academics, as it is possible to have high aspirations for both.
We work intensively with staff members to understand the importance of their own mental health, which in turn transfers to the pupils receiving the best possible care.
