School context
Spring Hill High School is a Special School in Birmingham for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, mild to moderate learning difficulties and/or autism aged 11-19 years. We are a small school that is registered for 50 students and this allows us to maintain some individual and small class teaching with a high ratio of teachers and teaching support assistants who get to know our students really well as individuals and personalise the learning for them. All of our pupils have an EHCP and currently 42.5% of pupils are CIC and 27.5% are entitled to FSM
School goals and ambitions
As a school we put pupil wellbeing at the forefront of all of our thinking. Due to the vulnerable nature of the pupils at Spring Hill High School we work to some core values focusing on Trust, Commitment, Respect and Safety of our pupils. We hope to get our pupils much more active as physical health is as important as mental health. We hope to allow pupils the chance to improve their physical skills, learn about British Values and their importance in our society as well as supporting staff to give the pupils the best possible experience while at school. We want the end result of well rounded pupils but this comes from focusing on so many different aspects of the human overall.

Impact school context
Since the beginning of this award we have implemented a range of initiatives to have a positive impact on our pupils' wellbeing. Staff have showed improved confidence in their ability to support pupils' wellbeing and they have promoted strategies consistently to maximize engagement. Our whole school weekly mile has strengthened pupils and staff relationships which has led to our whole staff team having a much better understanding of pupils from a pastoral perspective. The introduction of THRIVE has helped to embed a holistic approach to pupil wellbeing which is consistent across the school and as a result we are beginning to see improvements in behaviour meaning pupils are happier in school.
